Prof. Dr. Bambang Hidayat

Senior Indonesian astronomer, former Director of the Bosscha Observatory (1968–1999), Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, and Full Professor of Astronomy at ITB (1976). Head of the ITB Department of Astronomy (1968–1978). And one of six Vice Presidents of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) from 1994 to 2000.
Some of his observational works include: Survey of Young Stars in the Ophiuchus Constellation and Distribution of M-Class Giant Stars (Structural Analysis, Galactic). He was also a co-founder of the Indonesian Astronomical Society and the author of popular science publications, such as: “Indo-Malay Astronomy” and “Under a Tropical Sky: A History of Astronomy in Indonesia.”

Beberapa hasil karya observasinya adalah: Survey Bintang Muda di Rasi Ophiuchus dan Distribusi Bintang Raksasa kelas –M (Telaah Structur, Galaktika). Beliau juga salah satu pendiri Himpunan Astronomi Indonesia dan penulis publikasi ilmiah populer, seperti : “Indo-Malay Astronomy” dan “Under a Tropical Sky : A History of Astronomi in Indonesia.”
